McDowell’s Guest Bartending Night

What a great night it was on Saturday, July 7th for our foundation! McDowell’s Inn in Koppel, PA opened it’s doors for a guest bartending event that was a HUGE success! We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Mike Barberio and his staff for all of the amazing support and generosity they have given us, not only through this fundraiser at their bar, but others as well. Also, an enormous thank you to Lisa Montozzi and Anthony Fraser for helping us set up the whole event. To all who came to show support, businesses and individuals who donated baskets to our Chinese auction, our board members, volunteers, and especially our guest bartenders who did such an amazing job, THANK YOU for an amazing night!

Guest Speaker at the Rotary Club

A very big THANK YOU to the Rotary Club of Ellwood City for inviting Cara to speak at their June meeting. She was beyond grateful for the opportunity to share the story of how our foundation was created, inform them of the HOPE that we have already been able to bring to our community through the Lincoln High School Club Hope over the past 10 years, and give them a glimpse of all the HOPE we will bring to our area in the future. Included in the pictures below are Cara’s husband, Jon Atkinson, parents Nick (Treasurer of the Foundation) and Kathy Nardone and Rotary Club Member, and wonderful friend to their family, Bruce Thellman.

GRAND OPENING!! 6/9/18

Saturday, June 9, 2018 was a day we will never forget at The Club Hope Foundation! So many community members, family members and friends gathered outside of our doors to watch the official ribbon cutting ceremony that opened up the doors of our foundation. We have already been working so hard to help many in our area who have been affected by cancer and are so excited about what the future holds for us and the lives we will be blessed enough to touch. Huge THANK YOU to everyone who came to celebrate with us!

Reed Services Event

We were faced with a cold and dreary day for our first fundraiser as a foundation, but thanks to the generous donations from Cara’s uncle, Jim Mason, with the beautiful pallets he painted, we didn’t walk away without money raised for our cause. Special THANK YOU to the Reed family for having us and all the kids and families who stopped at our booth to make a craft, get a hot chocolate, or brave the cold and eat a snow cone!

Our Mission:

Club Hope was created to help patients and their families who have been faced with a cancer diagnosis. Please join us in bringing HOPE to our community! Through our school clubs, donations from generous members of our community and many local business donors, we have been able to help so many families and look forward to what lies ahead!

Club Hope was created by Cara Atkinson in 2008 after receiving word that the cyst she had surgically removed, along with half of her thyroid, had cancer in it. Hearing this news and feeling so blessed that surgery was all that was required to removeĀ  the cancer from her body, Cara started the first Club Hope at Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, PA. At the same time Cara received her news, a friend from Slippery Rock University was also facing a cancer diagnosis and her family was collecting small donations in order to help with some of the costs she was facing. Club Hope held its first fundraiser in October of 2008 for this girl and thus began our mission of giving and helping others. The Club Hope Foundation was created to expand on the work of the LHS club, and is currently working with other local schools to bring a Club Hope into as many buildings as possible to help students learn the many life lessons that are gained by being involved in this club. Seeing the success in Ellwood City encouraged Cara and her husband to create the Club Hope Foundation Inc., which they hope to see spread to as many schools and communities as possible!
